Several years ago and a hundred miles north of Neuschwanstein Castle, Munich commissioned a piece of installation art. Coming in on the streetcar, or on bike, or through the narrow streets to the square in front of the State Opera House, people saw a pile of wood. Three or four streetcars stopped and left before anything happened.
