Foreword and Acknowledgements

I would like to begin by first acknowledging the influences that made this project possible. Earth Revisited would not have been conceptualised if not for the brilliance of authors whose works have greatly affected how I view the world. Works such as Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, George Orwell's 1984 and Anthony Burgess' Clockwork Orange have brought me into strange and yet disturbingly familiar worlds. These influences have been gathering in my mind for sometime, and Earth Revisited is a result of that storm - my first foray into dystopian fiction.

Throughout ER, their distinct influences can be seen - although not in as adequate as would do those works proud. ER however remains uniquely my conception and my responsibility therefore to carry through.

I would also like to encourage readers to be patient with my project as it is purely an amateur composition, and largely unpolished. As my first attempt at writing hypertextual fiction, I would like to remind the reader that it requires that the reader follow through most, if not all the available links for the story to make sense.

Lastly, I would like to thank Prof. George Landow, as well as the CCLS02 class of 2000, without whom this work would not have materialised.

Enjoy!
