The Heir Is Born
He regarded the child with pride and fear. It was a boy, which pleased him; there would be
someone to carry on his legacy. Nonetheless, it only be so long until the boy was of age
and his own rule came to an end. Enough time, certainly, to raise his son properly and to
complete his ongoing works, but it seemed almost criminal even to consider thrusting so great a
responsibility upon a bright-eyed baby.

wife to see to - though the birth had not killed her, the physicians had said that
she was not well.
