I must write less as I speak and more as I program.


It's time for me to clarify what I mean by "stream-of-consciousness" writing. I don't mean stream-of-consciousness as a deliberate writing technique, a technology that audiences have to learn to understand (in such a way as they must learn to understand the cryptic manner in which Derrida writes, for example).

Rather, I define stream-of-consciousness writing as that which is free from anything preconceived or deliberate. Although this kind of writing is often refreshing and fun, it often fails because of the lack of focus that results from its blatant lack of structure. While the output from a direct cable feed often produces some especially amusing and thought-provoking material, it more often generates garbage and babble.
