By giving the reader many choices for how to read these lines from Twelfth Night, I am allowing her or him to produce his/her own text, in a sense. Instead of consuming an already fully written text, the reader is forced to make decisions about which text to accept at which moment. And there is also always the suggestion to create a different emendation of your own by combining the presented versions or branching off in a new direction. As these decisions are made, the reader becomes a writer who produces new and varied texts.
