Ironically, the guys at Bromley Mountain in Vermont, who were the first to use the Larchmont all-water snowmaking system were also the first ski area ever to get sued and lose.  As Bob tells it, a New York City lawyer went out bad conditions and fell and broke his leg.  He initiated a suit against the owner of Bromley Fred Pabst, of the Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer Family, claiming that the ticket seller didn’t warn him that the snow was patchy and dangerous.  After the settlement, ski areas developed an increasing familiarity with litigation.  Now, the backs of all lift tickets read, “Skiing is a dangerous sport which can result in serious injury or death."
