For Buffalo, Allentown is as bohemian as it gets: a couple of crazily decorated houses, two piercing parlors and one used bookstore.  There used to be a local food co-op in Allentown, too, but it moved north on Elmwood, hot on the trail of a watery gentrification.  South Buffalo is known to have the highest concentration of exemplary chicken wing joints, but Gabriel’s Gate has beaten out such legends as The Anchor Bar (home of the original Buffalo wing) and Duffs in public polls over the past few years.
