During Winter Carnival, a weekend festival in early March, the snowmaking crew blows an enormous mound at the base of Yodeler, Holiday Valley’s most historic slope. Out of the mound, they dig The Snow Bar, a long, curved counter with a flat top and plenty of room for bottles and kegs. The money they raise supports local charities and summer youth programs, like the soccer league I played on as a kid. The Snow Bar is, hands down, the best place to watch the dummy downhill.
