BIOGRAPHY


Born in Manchester, England, in 1960, Ian McDonald moved to Northern Ireland in 1965. His short fiction brought him a nomination for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and his novelette Unfinished Portrait of the King of Pain by Van Gogh was a finalist for the Nebula Award in 1989. His earlier novels are Desolation Road, King of Morning, Queen of Day, and Out on Blue Six; he has also published two collections of short fiction, Empire Dream and Speaking in Tongues. He is currently working on a new novel for Bantam Spectra.
