Computer Language and Advertising

According to Baudrillard, computer languages represent the epitome of simplification. For instance, binary code breaks down meaning into its barest components -- 0's and 1's. Baudrillard parallels this simplification of meaning with the language used in advertisements. The author attacks advertising as a destroyer of intensities, since ads neutralize differing beliefs and positions. So advertising becomes the ultimate form of simulation of meaninglessness.

put ad into grinder

ad = ad - intensity
ad = ad - meaning
