The Sun...
The author is more than just a producer of a text, book or work. An author can write theory, tradition or disciplne in which other works and authors find their place. So unlike that oaf Barthes, who says that the author is not necessary, the author is really fundamental. The principle of authorship exceeds the bounds of his work. To say that an author is confined or defined by his work is too narrow. In fact, the author is a reference point from which a particular field revolves. The author is bigger... so Barthes is dumber.
