Sandoval in her ideas on 'differential movement' argues that it is most effective to use a variety of potentially contradictory strategies; both 'old style' and new forms of activism through the uses of the new media. Its potential contardictoriness is not a weakness in our postmodern context, she says, but a strength. It allows for a taking up of ad-hoc contradictory minority- and majority-positions in order to create partial alliances and to subvert dominant discourses. Hypertextual environments would indeed seem to offer excellent spaces to allow for this interplay of contradictions.
