"This, then, which imparts truth to the things that are known and the
power of knowing to the knower, you may affirm to be the Form of the
good. It is the cause of knowledge and
truth,
and you may conceive it as
being known, but while knowledge and truth are both beautiful, you will
be right in thinking it other and fairer than these. And as in the
other
world it is right to think light and sight
sunlike, but not right to think them the sun, so here it is right to
think both knowledge and truth like the good, but not right to think
either of them the good. The state or nature of the good must be honoured
still more highly."
