This somewhat crudely weathered truss-rod caboose seems to have began life as a boxcar, or else the builder of the prototype used one as a template, since it does not have the usual platforms and railings found on bobbers. The model comes from a fine Central Valley kit that produces a handsome car with nice details, like the running boards and light on the cupola roof.
I must have built it early in the life of the AP&G — that is, in the early or mid 1970s — since it doesn't have the logo designed by Bill Newkirk. It's such a nice model that that I might try to repaint it, use the logo, and do a better job of weathering [GPL].
