The Electromotive Division (EMD) of General Motors built these Denver & Rio Grande Western F9 A and B units in 1955. They powered the California Zephyr and the Rio Grande Zephyr. The D&RGW retired the diesel units in 1984. Southern Pacific Lines donated them to the musem in 1996.
