Michael Benedikt presents ten ways of looking at cyberspace in his "Introduction" to Cyberspace: First Steps. Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 1991. This tour explores his presentation of each view, giving insights into and making connections between ideas about cyberspace. I want to stress, as Benedikt does, that Cyberspace as it currently exists does not fit any one of these views. Rather, these are useful ways of figuring out what it is by looking at how other people have described what they want or don't want it to be.
