The Internet

Jeff Pack, Brown University '99 (English 112, 1996)

The Internet is one of the "hot topics" of computing these days; it's almost singlehandedly changed the image of computer users from pocket protector-wielding CS majors basking in the phosphor glare of a monitor to an everyman/everywoman who stops by the net the way he or she might stop by a bar on the way home from work.

Now that I'm at Brown (and networked), I personally use "Internet applications" (e-mail, newsreaders, web browsers, talk clients, MUD clients, etc.) more than any other type of application... simply because they're the most useful.
