I
started this with nothing. Sitting in my advisor's office on the
second floor of Sharpe House, I was unnaturally nervous. I could feel
my heart beating through my shirt; when Professor Jacoby agreed to work
with me on my senior thesis, I finally began to relax. Without
anything more than a vague notion of a topic, I was unsure of how I
would be accepted. Professors always try and act like they want to see
students outside of class, but going into that office with
floor-to-ceiling bookshelves is still intimidating.
I
knew I wanted to write about something that happened in Rhode Island,
because there is such a wealth of information in this small state that
I wanted to explore. My advisor, agreeing with me, suggested I take a
look at King Philip's War, which had begun and ended in nearby Bristol.
