The HKD system, named after its inventor, Herman K. Dupre, is a technological advancement in snowmaking that incorporates energy efficient techniques and can cover 400 acres with one foot of snow in less than two days.  The system uses permanent towers installed along the tree-lined edges of hills that distribute a higher quality of snow more efficiently than ground guns.  Dupre co-founded Snow Economics, Inc. in 1981.  HKD towers are installed in Asia, Europe, and North America.
