Chris’s counterpart at the resort is Pat Morgan, who is in charge of organizing contests, events, and collecting loot—all sorts of free stuff to be distributed at said contests.  Young semi-professional snowboarders can generally make a pretty good living off of loot through e-bay navigation and tent sales.  In a typical season, a snowboarder competing in one or two events per week can easily accumulate up to six or seven free boards as well as countless hoodies, goggles, helmets, and hankies by the time spring hits.  Translated into its retail value, even a mid-range competitor can make more in loot in one weekend than by working part time at the local deli for a month.
